The BSCCP is a national society with circa 2000 members, that sets out the standards for practice and training in colposcopy within the cervical screening programme.
A colposcopy is a simple procedure used to look at the cervix; often performed if cervical screening has uncovered abnormal cells in the cervix.
As part of Pierre’s new role, he recently organised the annual members meeting. Pierre said: “I organised the prestigious annual BSCCP meeting this year in Manchester for over 600 people in line with me becoming President of the society for the next three years. I organised for international speakers from the United States, New Zealand, Australia, France and the UK to speak at the event, which was a great success.” “As Lancashire Teaching Hospitals is the cancer centre for Lancashire and South Cumbria, as well as a leading research centre, it’s really important that we’re involved in such pioneering studies and work through collaboration and analysis of best practice. This will enable us to bring emerging treatment and approaches to patients now, as well as break new ground in healthcare that will benefit future generations. I am pleased to have been appointed into this prestigious role which reflects positively not just on my work, but on the work of Lancashire Teaching Hospitals too.”
