B.I.G Question

B.I.G Question featured image

I am a Quality Matron with a focus on preventing falls in our organisation. As part of the data analysis I have noticed that patients don't ask when they need help, and I was thinking of how we could potentially influence this.

Thinking of how effective "Hello my name is" for the beginning of every patient contact, my idea is to end every patient contact by asking the B.I.G question. B.I.G is "Before I Go". for example if this were embedded my vision is to end every patient interaction with "Before I Go, can I get you anything?"

or "Before I Go have you got any questions"

or "Before I Go is there anything else I can do for you?".

This has the potential to ensure that patients know they can ask the nursing teams anything they wish, also it may increase patient well-being as they feel more settled and comfortable to ask,
