The aim of the Better Births project is to improve safety for women and babies, and build collaboration across different hospitals to standardise training.
We are collaborating with East Lancashire Hospitals, and Blackpool Hospital to provide training across all three sites, enabling staff to learn, share and train together.
There are two parts to the training incorporated into this project.
The first is a bespoke Human Factors training package, which will provide an insight into how you think, behave and make decisions in the work place.
The second part of the training is the practical obstetric multi professional training (PROMPT), which enables swift action when managing emergency situations relating to childbirth.
The new developed e- learning programme will be standardised across each site, ensuring evidence based practice across the region.
Catherine Nield, Better Training Better Births Project Lead at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals said: “It is wonderful that three neighbouring trusts can come together to learn and train together. Not only is collaboration within maternity training extremely important, the multidisciplinary training that is also involved is invaluable. As a trust, we can share and learn together and this is an important factor in collaboration, safety and care provision. The feedback from the first training days has been fantastic and I cannot wait to see the benefits from this type of training.”
