The Annual Report from the Director of Public Health in Dudley focuses on Aging Well in the Borough.

There are 64,000 people in Dudley aged 65 and over (and 121,000 people aged 50 and over).

Together these people make an enormous contribution to life in Dudley.

The report highlights four Healthy Aging Goals

1. Social Connectedness

2. Age friendly Environments

3. Healthy Behavior

4. High Quality Services

Unfortunately social isolation affects a large number of older people.

Studies have estimated that 14% of men and 11% of women aged 50 and over experience a moderate to high degree of social isolation.

Dudley Vanguard has introduced integrated plus workers to connect people back to their communities and tackle social isolation.
