A better Paediatric Pathway for EENT surgery

img_1059.jpegProblem Adults and Children shared a route into EENT theatres and this could raise questions about privacy and child protection. Impact CQC guidelines are that adults and children should be kept separate so that appropriately trained staff are always present. Idea To transform an old corridor that linked the children’s ambulatory care reception area to EENT Theatres. This created a dedicated pathway for children to be taken to EENT theatres. Benefits As well as fitting in with child protection guidelines the bright and colourful corridor has a child-friendly underwater theme. This offers a better experience for children and helps to reduce anxiety in a frightening situation. Soon there will be relaxing sounds to match the theme and keep children relaxed and at ease as they are taken to theatre.
