King’s College Hospital is the first NHS trust to use ‘nudge theory’ to help frontline staff cope during Covid-19.
Following a trial earlier this year in which staff at King’s reported a positive impact on their wellbeing using behavioural science tools, the Trust is embedding #OnlyHuman to use behavioural psychology techniques to support staff wellbeing.
The campaign takes a peer-to-peer approach to prompt staff, who sometimes struggle to identify
signs of stress in themselves, to spot early signs of strain within colleagues, and then take simple actions such as to check in with them regularly and make sure they’re taking breaks and drinking enough water.
This was a joint project between Revealing Reality, Hill+Knowlton Strategies and the Health Innovation Network, funded by the Health Foundation.
