TAP (Thank and Praise), the social thanking platform, is spreading gratitude for healthcare workers from the West Coast to the East Coast of Britain.
On the 27th of September 2021, Simon Gamewell, TAP’s Healthcare Advisor begins his journey to spread the power of gratitude from the West to the East coast. He will be taking on this challenge on a mobility scooter, meeting healthcare workers while raising funds for NHS Charities Together.
Just four years ago, Simon had his life torn apart by an unfortunate accident that left him with spinal cord injuries. As a very grateful recipient of amazing care, Simon wants his trip to demonstrate his and TAP’s ongoing support for healthcare workers.
“As we continue to create a new normal and emerge from the pandemic, it is important that we continue to show gratitude to those unsung heroes, especially those who have risked and continue to risk their lives working on the front line, the healthcare and social care workers, who are making our lives possible.”
Simon’s venture is based on the 3 areas which match TAP’s focus to drive gratitude:
- 1) Thanking the individuals who have provided the care and support we need in these difficult times
- 2) Praising the organisations, which continue to facilitate that care and support. On his journey, Simon will be passing by Liverpool University Hospital, Kare Plus Warrington, Warrington Hospital, Manchester Children’s Hospital, Christies NHS Foundation, Woods Hospital, Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care, Sheffield Children’s Hospital, Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Bassetlaw Hospital, Aurora Wellbeing Centre, Lincoln County Hospital, BMI Lincoln Hospital and Skegness & District General Hospital.
- 3) Raising funds for NHS Charities Together, with match funding support from M&L Healthcare. Anyone can make a donation through the TAP website – www.thankandpraise.com/simon.
United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust, one of the largest acute hospital trusts in England, has been using TAP’s free-to-use social thanking platform to help boost their staff’s wellbeing during these challenging times. The communities served by the Trust’s four hospitals can now quickly and easily send personal messages of thanks to hospital staff via a dedicated Digital Thanking Wall which has so far reached over 1,000 messages: www.thankandpraise.com/thankingwall/lincolnshire-nhs-trust
“We know that when our patients say thank you to our staff that it boosts morale so much and it makes it more valuable in these very difficult times. We all know that happy patients make happy staff,” said Sharon Kidd, Patient Experience and Engagement Manager, United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust.
