The 5 Questions are a technique to 'Check in' with colleagues rather then 'Checking Up' on them.
It has now become part of the Hertfordshire and West Essex ICS leadership programme.
To improve well being, morale, engagement and to reduce anxiety and uncertainty leadership is required.
Having a simple form and structure to allow leadership to emerge is truly useful and the ‘Five Questions’ do that.
Based on the Kings Fund Compassionate Leadership ideas and the recommendations from the British Psychological Society we promote a regular healthy leadership rhythm.
These ‘Five Questions’ create a rhythm that is supportive, conversational, empowering and compassionate and uses a listening and coaching approach.
This tool has been adopted by teams, other Trusts and by the Integrated Care System.
It is both a leadership tool and a commitment to take care of the psychological well being of our colleagues.
