100 Voices: sharing the wisdom behind the Fab Stuff

The Academy of Fabulous Stuff has always had a wonderfully simple idea at its heart: if something is good, share it.

Share the project. Share the idea. Share what worked. Celebrate people doing brilliant things and help their learning travel so somebody else doesn't have to start from scratch. That commitment to sharing and celebrating improvement is central to Fab's stated purpose.

100 Voices: How Better Feels grew from much the same belief, but with a slightly different question: what if the fabulous stuff we need to share isn't only what people do, but what they learn along the way?

The mistakes. The surprises. The relationships that made things possible. The people who changed their thinking. The difficult moments. The things they know now that they wish someone had told them years ago.

That's the human wisdom behind improvement, and it is incredibly easy to lose.

A very Fab journey

Fab has been part of 100 Voices almost from the beginning. I'm a proud Fab Ambassador, and Terri Porrett and Roy Lilley encouraged the idea when it was still taking shape.

In December 2024, we launched the project publicly at the GIANT Health Event, with the support of Terri, Roy and Barry Shrier, alongside wonderful colleagues from the RCN Foundation.

Then came the challenge of finding the Voices. Fab helped enormously, spreading the word and encouraging people to nominate those whose experiences deserved to be heard. We received 170 nominations.

And perhaps unsurprisingly, the Fab community runs through the Voices themselves. Fab Ambassadors including Brian Dolan and Joan Pons Laplana are among those who have generously shared what experience has taught them.

The Q Community has also generously supported the project, helping the idea grow into what it is today.

Sharing something different

100 Voices brings together patients, carers and people with lived experience alongside clinicians, staff, leaders and improvers.

They don't offer a formula for improvement. Instead, they share their experiences honestly in the hope that something they have learnt might help somebody else.

That's why 100 Voices feels so connected to the spirit of Fab. Both are about noticing what is valuable, celebrating it and passing it on.

Fab has created a home for sharing fabulous projects, innovations, ideas and learning. 100 Voices asks us to share something else too: the human wisdom behind making things better.

Now YOU can listen

100 Voices: How Better Feels launches on 4 November 2026, with three conversations released together and new Voices following fortnightly.

Listen for what resonates. Listen for what surprises you. And if one Voice makes you think of somebody else who needs to hear it, please pass it on.

Fab helped 100 Voices find its Voices and helped the idea travel. Now those Voices get to return the favour by sharing what they know.

Because fabulous stuff isn't only what we do. It's what we learn, and what we're generous enough to share.
