This morning as one of my patients was on her way home after progressing really well in rehabilitation. She said to me “Yours was the first smiling face I saw when I came here, I will not forget you - thank you and keep it up". She then gave me a big hug and I went on to tell her about my NHS Change Day pledge. Smiling evokes a response from others and it is hard not to smile back! When you smile you get a shared feeling of happiness even if it's just for that brief moment. A smile means a lot! I share my smile on a daily basis with others and have had comments from colleagues and patients about the positive impact it has on their mood.
